Local and International Spearfishing Adventures

Our spearfishing guide Richard Colyn was born in Cape Town and has been spending time in the ocean since the age of 8. Having dived the warm tropical waters of Zululand and Mozambique as well as the cooler, colourful waters of the Cape throughout his life, the ocean is very much part of his life. He speared his first yellowfin tuna almost 20 years ago and have since taken many spearfishermen out to target their dream fish. He has dived with and learned from some of the best spearfisherman South Africa has to offer, like Tommy Botha and Koos Jordaan, and gained invaluable knowledge throughout the years. He has extensive experience in targeting and landing large gamefish. With a passion for travel, he has experienced various diving conditions, both worldwide and locally. He currently holds 1 world spearfishing record and 3 national spearfishing records; he is a qualified Padi master freediver and CCR normoxic trimix, as well as a full cave qualified technical diver. Richard is a spearfishing guide by profession and offers customized trips to U.A.E, East Africa and various locations within South Africa. His passion is facilitating trips and being an in-water guide and videographer for both local and international clients in South Africa and abroad.
